O2 Loyalty Reward

Hello,
I recently got O2 to give me 100 extra text messages for staying with them but I have a question which maybe one of you can answer.
The way O2 bill you means that "100 loyalty texts" is actually a £10 credit to your phone bill, rather than extra text messages as such. However, because a text from O2 is 10p before tax and 12p after tax (hence the quoted price of an O2 text message being 12p) what they're crediting you with is actually 83 text messages after tax.
I know it's only £2 but isn't this a bit mis-leading? When they say to you on the phone "we'll throw in an extra 100 text messages" and you only in actual fact receive the equivelant of 83? They don't say "we'll throw in 100 pre-tax messages."
Any thoughts (or have I mis-understood something
)?

When I text it takes 10p, have never been charged 12p. Been with O2 years, but its PAYG, so maybe you are Pay monthly.0

Yes I'm on contract and it is 12p/text.
Just had a quick look at the PAYG tariffs: some are 10p some are 12p.

Dave, I think you will find that the £10 credit on your bill is applied before VAT is added at the bottom of your bill. So the £10 credit is really worth £11.75.
Therefore the £10 will pay for 100 messages at 10p each before VAT is added to your total bill.0 -
Oh dear, easliy confused!
Thanks for the clarification.
