Being discriminated Against

  • Nonsense.

No same sex groups allowed, wither heterosexual or homosexual. One's sexuality plays NO role at all in this. It is not discrimination.

If you allowed homosexual same-sex parties, then THAT would be discrimination against heterosexuals.

    So..
The campsite will allow a group of 3 hetrosexual couples to make a booking, but not 3 homosexual couples.

They need to remove the 'same sex' part of their group or it causes indirect discrimination.

Correct, but that is nothing to do with their sexuality.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Not quite true. They might have got married in Canada, in which case they are legally married in England. I know becuase my colleague at work married his husband there. For all legal purposes in the UK they are a married couple. Not a Civil whayoumacallit.

    Are you sure about that?

Indeed. I might well be paid less than every one of my male colleagues. But unless I'm paid less purely because I'm a woman, then it's not discriminatory. I might just be rubbish at the job :)

It's indirect discrimination. It's not intentional or homophobia. The OP didn't 'choose' to go in a single sex group - they just happen to be one due to their sexuality.

Lesbians are not allowed male friends?

I assume 2 lesbian couples and 1 gay couple, or 2 gay couples and one lesbian couple would be more than welcome?

Equality Act provisions which came into force on 1 October 2010

    • The basic framework of protection against direct and indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation in services and public functions; premises; work; education; associations, and transport.

Indirect DiscriminationThis includes practices which might look fair but which have discriminatory side effects. It applies when an apparently neutral provision, criterion or practice disadvantages members of a specified group relative to others.

If a group of 2 gay males and 2 gay females are allowed under the rules, it's not discriminatory.

I have seen this at lots of sites and for a lot of years, I remember sneaking in with my mates because of this rule many years ago, but I had never thought about it being discriminating. I think they really need to review their terms and conditions for the 21st century (all holiday companies that have this rule), because I bet most of them don't realise the rules could be interpreted as discrimination.
My cousin often goes camping with her adult daughters, she looks very young and could be mistaken as similar age, so three adult women and 2 dogs, does that constitute a group?
Another rule I couldn't understand was 'no motorbikes', because my uncle (who is now in his 70's) rode a motorbike up to 60 yr old, never owned a car, so I suppose he would have been turned away as well.
I suppose it could have been worse op, it could have been four females on motorbikes. Enjoy your holiday, and who knows, maybe you can get the holiday companies to think about how they word their terms and conditions.
