It's Pancake Day! do you eat 'starters'??

Hi all,

Just asking as l have this question every year :rotfl:

Do you eat a small main course before your pancakes or just have a load of pancakes for tea?

It bothers me that there are no vegetables involved :rotfl: don't mention savoury pancakes these things are made to have sweet fillings!!

Or do you just go for loads of fruit and sauces, ice-cream etc? Doesn't seem too healthy but then l suppose it's only one day.

Happy moneysaving all.

  • If I'm only having sweet pancakes then I would have a main course of soup or a jacket potato or something. I do like savoury pancakes though, in which case I would have savoury ones followed by a sweet one too!

Pancakes for breakfast, and for tea too as a pud.

Although I make pancakes at least twice a week as breakfast for the kids. One likes them plain, one likes them with icing sugar.
I like them with cream cheese and sour cherry jam - yummy.:p
I also like left over Yorkshire pudding with ice cream - go on, give it a try! :rotfl:

If you just want sweet pancakes go for it, I would but I also love these http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/green-eggs-and-ham-57

So will have 2 of these delicious with some fresh toms saut!ed with butter and then a pile of lemon and sugar pancakes.

Note the batter from Nigella is different from my standard pancake batter (i discovered just adding pesto to standard batter is a disaster!)

i love savoury pancakes with fillings such as beansprouts, chicken, mushrooms etc in a white sauce. but the kids aren't too keen.

For us tho were having our normal meal which tonight is a chicken curry, and then we will have a couple of pancakes each for pudding. We all like syrup on ours. plain and simple and scrummy.
