Halogen Heaters

Hi
On the basis that the only stupid question is the one you dont ask - I have read on this part MSE that you get out (heatwise) exactly the same amount of heat from any type electric heater because elecricals appliances are all very efficient . If so then when I have my halogen heater on 400w is that the equivalent of having 4 100w lightbulbs on?
If this really is a dumb question Im sorry!

Yes. 400W heater on full for 1 hour would use 0.4 units about 40p and 4 x 100W bulbs (old filament type) on for an hour would use 0.4 units.

Note that the light bulb is designed to give out light but also gives out heat and the Halogen heater is designed to give out heat but also gives out light. Funny old world.

The Halogen is a radiant type of heater so mainly emits in the infra-red, while convector heaters heat the air directly and the rising warm air fills and warms the room.
