Newark (NYC) to hotel 15 mile commute - how to?

Landing in Newark and then need to get to our hotel without being ripped off. Can anyone suggest how best to do this? Ideally I would like to book on the Internet before we go.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Depends where your hotel is. If you tell us that we might have a better chance of helping...0

Supershuttle served me well both times I have used them, not at Newark though but cant imagine they would be different there.0

You can get the train from the airport to Penn station in NY then subway or a cab ride. Train details here

Personally I would take the train in to Penn station and cab from there. No need to book - you can get a ticket at the airport.
If you don't fancy that I've always found Supershuttle reliable and they won't rip you off. You can book in advance if you want to.
A cab might be worth it if there are 4 of you. Providing you take a proper licensed cab you are very unlikely to get ripped off.0 -

This is what we did - first time in NYC. It was dead easy - once you get through and have your bags look for the signs for the AirTrain and just follow them to get to the right place. Once you get to Newark Penn station follow the signs that point you to the right platform (New York City). Then when in NYC we got a taxi. All very very easy indeed! I think the train ticket was $12.50 each into town and then the taxi fare.0 -
I found it was its easier getting into New York City from Newark then from JFK.
As others have said straight into Penn station which is right under Maddison square gardens

If you do decide to take a cab, they might be likely to add a surcharge for "out of town", so it'll likely work out cheaper using the train to get to Penn Station then taxi it from there.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

I agree. We have done JFK-Manhattan and then our hotel was in New jersey (not too far from Newark) and it took us 40-50 mins to getfrom JFK-Manhattan but only about 20 mins on the nj Transit from our hotel.
A lot less confusing going by train than the subway if you're a first timer0
