Damaged Car

Just a quick vent about the tw*t that has scuffed and dented the side of my car in the Sainsburys car park today and just drove off without leaving any details.
Now I have a nice black line down the side of my lovely white car
Its quite high up on the car so must have been a 4x4 or a people carrier. Wouldn't have been too upset if they had at least left some contact details but its going to cost me at least a hundred quid to fix as I don't want to take the hit on my insurance.

Something similar happen to my wife when she parked in a local Asda car park. Well that's what she told me anyway.
Hope it doesn't end up being too expensive.
Perhaps you could ask the store to review their CCTV to see if you can get any details of the offending vehicle.0 -
Unfortunately that's one of the hidden costs of motoring. Every now and then something will happen, stone chip, puncture, door ding etc that you need to expect it - whether it's right or wrong. The man without a signature.0

Yeah... I know. Its just that I've done it to someone elses car before, wasn't even that bad (just scuffed their bumper) and I left a note with my name and telephone number under the windscreen wiper. They contacted me and I paid for a new bumper to be fitted. If I hadn't done it I would have felt really guilty.0

Sign of the times. Just look at the way people drive on the road, so why would they give a s@@t about what they do in a car park!0

I saw someone do this to someone elses car once.
They were "trying" to park and you could hear the scraping noise. They jumped out looked at the damage to the other car and drove off.
I kindly took a note of the reg (of the rubbish parker), what time it was and put my contact details and that I would happily be a witness and left it on the windscreen of the damaged car.
The owner of the damaged car phoned later that day to say thanks and that they had passed the details to the police. The police then phoned to get my statement and seemed pleasantly surprised that I had done this. They said usually people don't bother."Opportunity only knocks once.It doesnt knock, knock again, then leave a note asking you to give it a call back when you've got your s*** together".John Connolly0 -
Someone reversed into my dads car at the airport and left the damage for him to find, it was so bad he couldnt open the driver side door. Some proper scumbags about.
The one thing I would say is dont worry too much if you have to tell your insurer, someone vandalised my car and they said because it wasnt directly my fault my insurance wouldnt rise, and it didnt. I did lose a years no claims though.0 -
I did the same as Stelly..I saw a woman reverse into a car in Homebase once, the crash was so loud there is no way she did'nt hear it,so much so she stopped then drove off.
I went into the store and dropped the number off at customer service, the poor owner was a young Saturday girl and it was her first car,I felt awful for her as she was in tears.
if you don't want to get involved leave the reg annoymously.
People get away with this far too much now our insurance takes a hit beacuse of their selfishness and c**p driving.
Secondly my car goes in for a repair tommorrow for a deep scratch that will relieve me of £140...thanks to some git with a shopping trolley0 -
I can never understand why people have to park as near to the entrance to the store as possible, I always park at the far end of the car park away from most others it may not stop damage but it lessens the chance, it might be a slight walk but a bit of exercise does you good.:)0

I often park further from the door where the car park is empty. When I return, invariably someone has parked alongside ....... why?
I've no idea why people do that - but they are obviously the same ones who, when you've found a nice spot on a fairly secluded beach, come and plonk themselves down within 2 feet of you.
Maybe it's the herding instict.0
