If you were leaving the country, would you consider taking as many loans as you could get, BT as much as you could and take with you as many credit cards as you could, with no intention of ever returning to pay them off:eek:

I know a few people that have done it, so much so they cannot return to the country.

But no, I wouldnt do it.

  • We have moved to Spain and various expats have discussed this very scenario!

Husband : said yes initially, then thought about it and changed his mind.

Me : No way, right from the start.

Other expats : Mainly a reluctant no.

However, at least ONE couple owned up to having done it to the tune of about £80k .......

If you think that is immoral, this appeared in my inbox today from.

†Spend £95 or more, pay nothing for 3 months. Spend £195 or more, pay nothing for 6 months. All credit is provided, subject to status, by ?. Pay the balance by the due date and pay no interest or choose to spread the cost and interest will be calculated on the balance from the date of purchase at typical 25.9% APR variable.

Suck them in and spit them out 25.9%?.

Maybe you could use it as part of the retirement process:

Decide how long you will live.
    Spend all your savings.
Build up your debts at the end and Bingo.
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

That's something I think I could go for - if I knew I was going to turn me toes up within the next year or so, I'd consider signing up.

BUT, since I signed up to the mailing preference service, I don't really get many credit card, loans etc junk mail, could always opt back in I suppose...
