http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/03/07/uk-barclays-diamond-idUKTRE7261TI20110307

.......and he's not even the top earner at Barclays.

Two "un-named" clerks got even more

That should get a few 'flamers' going ;)

Don’t see the problem here, boss is responsible for huge profits and gets suitably rewarded.

If the shareholders are happy to pay those bonuses then its up to them. They own the company.

there is no problem with this. the bank made profits, and the bonus comes out of those profits. they are theirs to do what they like with - provided the board/shareholders approve.

what is a national disgrace is the police overtime and bonuses for just doing their jobs. where does that bonus money come from????? what profits do the police make to cover this 1bn in bonus and overtime???

!!!!!!, if you join the police, you are told you will do X amount of shifts and your salary is Y. that is it.

There should be NO BONUSES EVER in the public sector. bonuses are paid out of profits when a company does well. no profits = no bonuses.

that is why i would have a problem with NR or HBOS getting bonuses, unless they have first repaid what they have taken.

the white horse - try working in the police then you will understand. if your at a call and your shift is suppost to end you have a legal requirment to stay on and deal with the situation. not to leave because your finished. and before anybody says it. the shift coming on cant take over because who will then answer the emergency calls then. Its not officers fault they get overtime.

and police deserve more bonuses that bank boss's. banks are the cause to the big drop in money these days and i feel that the police do a more demanding job than they.
most people will disagree but oh well

So what happens when you're asked to do X+1 shifts then? Should they do the extra hours for free?
