I would hope that the accesses for the drains would have been infilled/bricked up. Just shows the poor standard of modern construction.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

They are hoping to revive the ancient roman tradition of lighting a fire & venting it under the floor. Underfloor heating ;)

the photo with the red line shows no lintel where the arrow points.
The first photo also shows no lintel where the down pipe is shown

The construction pic shows lintels in each wall where the pipes pass through, I can see at least 10 and one laying on top off the blockwork waiting to go in.

I've got a 2 yr old son and pregnant wife (who is too scared to go outside to put rubbish in the wheelie bin) who could have picked up something nasty from the rat.

I would have thought the two year old would have been too short to reach the lid of the wheelie bin ;o))

You're right...there are numerous lintels all over the site.....but none where the red line is pointing.
It's clear because the pipe on the ground goes under 3 lintels and is then clearly visible right up to the lintel on the furthest away gap.
Where the red line is, the lintel is missing.

It's also missing on the photo showing the drain pipe in post 1

Thanks for all the comments above.

I've got my rat entry point wrong! It's further to the left where the 2 pipes are sticking up and the one is leaning on its side (half way along the red line).

Sorry about that!! so, it looks as though a lintel was never put in place?

Expanding foam and some decent poison should do the trick, I get the industrial stuff as a mate deals with the railways and said don't bother with the DIY store stuff.
