Sorry ZX81, normally I am one of your fans, I am not trying to be awkward I just thing that there is misunderstanding here..
It is not usual to be able to pay off one credit card with another for free. That would completely defeat the idea of credit cards.
I do admit there are exceptions, for example I can pay off my Next credit account with credit card, but I cannot use Next where I want so it is not much good...0 -
But you would still pay interest on the BT - as below from MBNA -
No interest free period for balance transfers, money transfers or cash advances.
So it's not a get out of jail free card. You still pay interest, but can often avoid the fee.
I'll try to locate the ones that don't charge a fee when I have a few mins... Unless I've gone completely insane.
EDit - though in light of the ones you've posted, I'm certainly prepared to admit the fee free transfer is not as widespread as I thought it was!0 -

I'm going to concede defeat on this. All the ones I though were fee free are charging. At least some of these I think must be changes in the last year, but either way, there's a fee today, so I was wrong.
Thanks for setting the record straight, Any. I am off to hang my head in shame and beat myself over the head with a set of terms and conditions.0 -

Thanks, coffee on my screen... :rotfl:0 -
I don't know whether or not this helps, but in some instances it is possible to pay a credit card with another - as a purchase.
With Sygma Bank (Silver, Creation, FlyBe, etc) you are able to pay your bill via their online banking - and you are able to use any type of card to pay your bill just not one of theirs: (Bit worried why my online account login still works - I closed the account a month ago)
I imagine some other cards also accept the same. You can use another card and it is treated as a purchase.
Good cards to do this with would be Clarity for the £5 bonus or Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo for the Airmiles.
Good luck OP

Yes, you can - you will pay at least 3% fee for it.. every time (and it is called "balance transfer", clue is in the name)
Basically what people are saying is that you cannot pay it off for free and as a matter of fact.
And you do not earn points on balance transfers. Ever. They are doing you a favour, why should they pay you for it as well.
If that was possible and usual, don't you think that there would be lots of people with thousands of debt on cards and just month after month would be swaping it from one card to another and never actually paying anything off?
Thanks for all the responses so far....totally get your above point , but again I have heard differing things...admittdely most people who say the opposite to the above always mention a friend who does this....
So, to set the record straight:
I can easily pay off my monthly debt. I just want to have a little fun and earn some extras...In all your opinions, is the following possible:
- Spend circa £1k in March on my Amex.
- When it comes to payment time for the Amex, I pay on my new sainsbury's Nectar cc,
- When it comes to payment card for this Sainsburys cc, pay it off on my new Amex Britiash airways cc.
- When it comes to payment time for BA Amex, pay from my HSBC current account.
I am not struggling to pay bills each month, I should have a good credit rating, have only had one Amex credit card the past 3 years and this is just a thought process of earning approx an extra one thousand nectar points and one thousand extra BA air miles each month.
Again thank you all for your opinions on this.0 -

As long as all of the above listed cards you mention support payment in the same manner as the Creation card I screenshotted above, this will indeed work, and incur no extra fees, earning you points / cashback along the way.
All you need to be weary of is that some card issuers don't allow payment by credit card and some do. Make sure all the ones you're getting do.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Sllim99 - I don't care whether you have the money, I was explaining why it is not ordinarily possible - just because some can afford it doesn't mean providers will leave massive loophole.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!0 -

Thing is though, Any, is the credit card companies don't really care where the money comes from to pay the bill. All they care about is that they aren't paying themself.
What difference would it make to Halifax if you paid them with your bank card, or an HSBC credit card, for example?
