Hi everyone, I got my food intolerance test back today and it said I have a high intolerance to YEAST, that I should avoid yeast for the next 3 months then reintroduce some.
Does anyone know what i can eat ?
Ive read I should avoid the breads and biscuits, all types of sugars, cheese ,alcohol.
Any ideas what I can eat , ? feeling rather confused
any good yeast free breads or recipes out there ?

I had a blood test done to test for intollerances, due to ailments.
It came back with a very high score of an intolerance to yeast.
Just been told to cut out yeast for 3 months then to re introduce a little to see if it helps. I am desperate to feel better so have to give it a go.Kindness costs nothing0 -
thriftlady wrote:'Fraid this still contains yeast. The starter is made by natural yeasts which are present in the environment. Yeast is hard to avoid completely. Has a doctor told you to stop eating yeast ? Sorry to sound sceptical

Hi there. Bad luck on the yeast intolerance. I had this problem a few years ago and found it quite difficult to get to grips with at first. The hidden yeasts are the ones to watch out for too, eg soy sauce, vinegar & cheese (all fermented), fruit & fruit juices (the sugars cause yeast in the body to run riot), stock cubes, mushrooms and quorn.
There is a brand of Kosher stock cubes called Telma, which is yeast free. Asda sell them in most areas. Marigold vegetable boullion powder is yeast free too, the brand that Gillian McKeith uses in her recipes. These can be used to give a bit of a lift to savory dishes, otherwise they are pretty bland. I used to make lots of fresh vegetable soups with pulses and stews/casseroles using these. They tasted pretty good and I didn't feel so deprived!
Sourdough and soda breads are yeast free, but I used to buy these, not make my own. I bet there are loads of MSE'ers with recipes.
Hope this helps a bit. Good luck with it-it will be worth it if it improves your health.0 -
Wholemeal Soda Bread
75g coarse oatmeal + a handful
225g wholemeal plain flour
225g plain flour
1 tsp bicarb
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 egg
450 ml buttermilk
Place 75g oatmeal and wholemeal flour in bowl. Sift in other dry ingredients. Mix together.
Mix egg and buttermilk and add to dry ingredients. Mix.
Shape into two loaves. Smear with buttermilk and scatter handful of oatmeal on top.
Place on floured baking tray.
Bake at 190c for 45mins.
This makes a really delicious loaf. They don't keep as well but you can freeze them.0 -

Hi,
perhaps you shall buy Dr. McKeith's book, may be you don't agree with all she writes (as I do) but at least she has a comprehensive list of food to avoid and those to eat in case of yeast intolerance and gives a lot of hints for meals and recipes you won't think about otherwise. I also found out that if I give up bread and other baked products for a while a feel a lot better.0 -
my dad has just done this, but his was a build up of yeast and sugar.
soda bread
meat
potatoes, rice, pasta
veg
no fruits, except grapefruit
peanuts
tinned toms (as long as there's no sugar added)
basically it's going back to a natural diet. no processed or pre-packaged foods as all of these contain hidden sugars which make the yeast in your stomach react.
and the only alcohol you're allowed is vodka0
