Anyone used peepee teepees?

I've come across these on the internet and was wondering if they were any good for preventing accidents when doing nappy changes (I'm sure it's deliberate in some cases though!). Or am I better off cutting up an old flannel and using bits of that?

I just drop a wetwipe on it then use it as my last wipe. At the very least it deflects the stream and I don't get wee in my face. :)

I think his aim is getting better, as he got himself in the face the second time, now he gets the carpet and his clothes.

I'll try using a babywipe and see what happens.

My friend tried them, but says they are really no better than using a flannel.

What are you changing him on? My son always used to pee when I took his nappy off and someone gave me some advice. I was using a changing mat with a plastic surface. She said that when I took the nappy off and his little bum hit the cold plastic, that was triggering his peeing. If you put a cloth down over the plastic for them to lie on, I used to use an old tea-towel, they don't get that cold 'shock'. It worked most of the time...

Never used them, I would have thought an old flannel would be more cost effective!

However when changing DS's bum as a baby I'd open the nappy let the cold air hit his bum then put the nappy back on while he inevitably weed, for DS he only really did it when the temperature on his bum changed. So I'd have thought using a cloth under the bum would be a good trick too.

    HTH's.

I'd second the advice of opening up the nappy, getting cold air on him, then closing it to let him wee. Worked a treat. The wee wee teepee things look a waste of money - a cloth would work just as well. Get a load of cheap face cloths from tesco and just pop them in the wash at the end of the day if they get wet.
  • When we take the nappy off we fold it back up and rest his bottom on the front outside part of the nappy so his bottom doesn't touch the plastic change mat. We then use toilet paper scrunched up, about 4-5 peices and put that on him. It catchs most of it and is easy to dispose of when dirty. Seems to work fine with little expense.:)
