What does Quasi- semi detached mean?

Going viewing a above type property. It says it's 2 bed Quasi semi
Entrance hall, 2 bedrooms, front garden, drive, family bathroom and fitted kitchen.

Now there is no mention of a back garden and one is not shown in the pictures, but it's joined to an identical house like a normal semi to the left, with a gate and path way running down the right hand right of the house, is it likely that there is a garden at the back ? It's not a terrace as there is no house connected to the right hand side .
Although from the pics I can't see a back garden, I can see light shining through the kitchen and bathroom window from where the back garden would be, so I am thinking there will be some kind out outside area to the back of the property , otherwise if another house was co-joined from the back then surely there wouldn't be light coming through from the back of the property.

Anyone know what I mean and a true definition?

Quasi means resembling. Sounds like it's a terraced house that looks like a semi because of the path down one side.

Why do people expect precise definitions for terms like these that are simply invented by estate agents?

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

Semi-detached implies the houses are joined by the whole gable end - sounds' like this is joined to the next by a partial gable, i.e. the two houses are offset, not symmetrical - but without seeing it....

No doubt when the OP actually views the property, all will become clear - hopefully.

It would be nice if they came back and put us out of our misery. I'd be fascinated to know how an estate agent came up with this one...

Have the plain english brigade never attempted to make estate agents explain some of their silly phrases?

We lived in a terraced house described as this once.

The reality was that we where fully connected to the right hand property and partially connected to the left.
We had the access path to the rear gardens, so we had no connection on the ground floor, but where connected on the first floor.
In our case I think it was called a flying freehold?
If it's not adding up, compound it!

Isn't it just an end of terrace or a mid-terrace where you have a 'close' to get round the back?

Sounds like pretentious estate agent talk. :)
