So the radiators are double paneled single convector radiators....I have worked this out thanks to google images again.

I can't post the images or a link because I'm a new user, I have put them on a web album though and if anyone is willing to take a look let me know and i'm PM the link, think I can do that?!

The heating is set to come on between 5.30-7.30 am and again between 6pm - 9.30pm
Water is set to come between 5.30-7.30am....

Could the radiators be costing the money? If not does anyone have any idea what could be?

You can post links if you replace http:// with hxxp:// and put a space in there somewhere

OP appears to have a wet CH system, not panel heaters or storage heaters.

The flat gets freezing if we have it any lower, heating goes off around 9.30pm and by the time it gets to about 10.05 its already freezing cold. Would having it on that extra little bit warrant the £153 bill.....?

£153 per month warrants moving. Winter won't last much longer so at the end of the 6 month tenancy move. It doesn't get freezing cold at the moment you need to get used to colder temperatures wrap up more. 24 degrees is tropical especially for electric heating.

I would never use the electric wet central heating. You would be better off using electric convectors or radiators in the rooms you need them when required. Get yourself an energy monitor and watch yourself spending your money. Although I have to add £5 per day for wet central heating isn't too bad. I'm guessing 10kw for 5 hours @ 10p/unit = £5.

    Believe me ....i'm considering it!

When we spoke to edf to intially take over the bills they said the previous tenants were only paying £40/month so clearly it is something we are doing/have done. They used the inbuilt system and seemed not to have bills anywhere near as high as ours.

So.....would it actually be cheaper to buy some of those little blow heater things and power those than actually use the central heating?

First thing to do is to switch from EDF's Standard tariff--standard is always any supplier's most expensive one. Go for an online discounted one.

It's cheaper if you only use 1 at a time. Maybe 1 in the bedroom to get up with then 1 in the bathroom to keep warm whilst having a shower then when you come home just use 1 in the lounge till you go bed then just use it for half hour just to take the chill off the room. You need to keep the doors and windows closed. They probably didn't use it as much as you and divided out the whole year into easily manageable monthly instalments of £40.
