NTL and owed money

Hi, this is my first post on the forums!
I was with NTL last year with a load of my flatmates in shared accommodation. In the end we all got seperate internet connections (5 in the house) and one of those had the phone line on it aswell. Towards the end of the year we called to cancel the account, the person my flatmate spoke to cancelled her account, the plan was then to pass the phone on to the rest of us so we could all cancel it in one go as she had already explained to him the situation in our house. Instead of talking to the next in line he said he could cancel them all, she double checked with him and he told her its fine hes cancelled all the accounts at our address. Cool, one less thing to do before we move out. Over the summer i checked my bank account and what do I see an NTL payment, thinking that it was jus the last bill payment i left it alone, but the following month the same thing.
I called them in late july (27th i think) they said explained the situation and she put me through to another department after waiting about half an hour i decided to leave it for another day, got through a week later towards the beginning of august. I spoke to a guy who wasnt very helpful and accused me firstly of making it up, then that I was apparently a troublesome customer (i was very polite to the previous person in july as ive worked on the wrong end of a phone), then told that they just said that to my flatmate because she was being troublesome... made him put me through to someone else and they told me there was nothing they could do, and the earlier i could cancel my account was the 27th of August as i called to cancel it on the 27th of July (even though i hadnt really called to cancel as i was passed onto another department before i could get anything sorted)
So from that is there anything i can do to get my £30-£50 back or is it just a loss ill have to live with?
