Grocery Shopping

Right I need some Help Posters..

I have returned from Tesco for the second week running with a £100 shop. :doh:this week I planned all our meals, no luxuries, no alcohol not masses of cleaning stuff.

I need to get this down as its not sustainable in our new DFW lifestyle. but try and I might I can not manage. Maybe we just eat to much....I dont know.

I mean there is 2.5 of us for petesake!

I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to list their menus, and shopping lists for me to gain some inspiration.

I am happy to batch cook as I batch cook all the babies dinners and have a slow cooker.

Hubby does work shifts so need meals that fit in with that, and the baby will eat what we eat. We take packed lunches or left overs for work.

Please help, this is the last big thing I need to tackle....

I got my Tesco bill down by buying their 3 for £10 packs of meat, i.e. chicken breasts, stewing beef and pork loin chops. Make a lot of different meals with those, I also use those green bags to store my vegs in now in the fridge they last at least twice as long and I don't throw any fresh veg away like I used to. I freeze all my bread too and just take out half a dozen slices at a time (I was always throwing out stale bread) I make most of our cakes and biscuits now as its cheaper to buy the ingredients and it makes loads and I freeze some for later in the week... hope some of that helps..

Very similar to tanith - although I am interested in the "green bags" what are they?

The slow cooker means you can use cheaper cuts of meat and use up vegetables.

Are you using "cooking sauces/packets" or are you cooking from scratch. I find a good stock of tinned toms and pasta will underpin most of my meals. I have built up a good range of herbs and spices so cook alot from scratch now.

I also freeze bread and milk when it is on special offer (Tesco).

Get Tesco to come to you! I have saved easily 25-30% by shopping online and not being tempted.

    Hi MrsD

I am learning A LOT from the topic I started a few weeks ago "how much do you live on per month" You will be amazed at how little people get by on a month, it has been and continues to be truly inspirational to me :)

I honestly thought about that today, as I peered in to the trolley and thought, this looks a bit more than £50.:T

I bought the exact three meats :D As there is only two of us, i then seperated into bags and frozen so we'll get quite a few different meals out of them.

I personally feel the most savings can be made by going the extra mile and shopping in Aldi, Lidl, Home Bargains, B&M's etc etc. But it is time consuming and I don't confess to doing this all the time as I've got two jobs :o
