I know this probably sounds insane but I cut my shopping bill by shopping in Waitrose. Reasons why, they don't tempt me with BOGOF's I don't need so leave with only groceries I do need and their fresh food is so fresh it lasts for ages. I never waste any food now and they also do really good reductions on food near the 'sell by date'. I feed 2.5 and up to 4.5 on weekends and have gone from spending around £80-90 a week in Asda to £65-70 in Waitrose. This includes all cleaning products, smellies, guinea pig food etc.

And my stress levels have been reduced dramtically aswell due to a lot less people in Waitrose.

We spend £45 a week at Asda for two of us and a cat. This includes delivery charge as we find that overall by shopping online we are able to budget better. If we do the shop in person we add up as we go along, noone really bats an eyelid.
This week we are having cereal or toast for breakfast
We pack homemade sandwiches for work. I buy two pre-made sandwich fillers, only buy the ones that cost £1. OH has pate and sandwich and will prob eat some of the fillers as well.
We get a pack of bananas (fairtrade) each week to take as a snack.
    Our dinners this week are:
prawn jacket potatoes with a homemade marie rose sauce
    Spag bol
    Pork steaks with couscous
A fresh pizza from the counter (£3.18) for 14" inch with four toppings of our choice
Welfare chicken with a pre-made BBQ sauce and couscous
Will pick up another couple of dinner foods reduced as Asda have missed some of the items as per usual. This will still come out the buget.
Cat gets a chicken dinner cat food which is high quality meat.
We also buy fairtrade filter coffee every week and the basics like milk, spread, juice, squash, passata etc. Most of this will be value items. Also Asda own brand cokes each week as I can't go without them. It takes a little time fiddling online to stick to the budget but is doable for us with the odd treat. Plus usually toiletries and cleaning products.
    Good luck!

This is what I use: I posted it previously on the old style board.

I found a meal plan really de-stressed the whole thing, I knew what we were having each night and what exactly to defost. I shop online and I know exactly what to get.

I use frozen veg as I find it convenient and requires no preparation, frozen chopped onions being my favorite no prep.no stress food.

I used dried herbs and spices and garlic powder in huge amounts.

    My meal plan runs kind of ;

MON curry, rice naan bread and chutney, I do a different curry each week using chicken thighs and own brand curry sauce.

TUE chicken breast in any one of 10 different easy homemade sauces with baked potato and salad.

WED Braised steak in slow cooker with mixed beans and veg, I do double and use it the next week in pasties or a pie. I serve that with mash gravy and two vegetables.

THURS Own brand fish fillets with oven chips and mushy peas, I do some local shopping on this day so add in a fresh crusty loaf for the very neccesary chip butties. I alternate this with home made soup and a pud or a fry up, both of which I have the lovely crusty bread with too.

FRI Spag bol, chilli. shepherds pie. I do double of the chilli and spag bol, using them on saturday chilli for stuffed peppers or the spag bol for lasagna.

    SAT.. see fri

    SUN Roast.

I make a whole weeks sandwiches at a session for packed lunches and any leftovers from meals are eaten as snacks or at home lunches.

Hope it gives you some ideas, it works for me, the thing I can't get my head round is the family still haven't cottoned on to the simple system and never seem bored with it either.
