Experian report-67 linked addresses!

Apologies if this is not in the right section, but not sure where to post...I'm currently speaking to a broker, i'm a ftb looking for a mortgage. As a matter of course I checked out my experian credit report, and it has me down for 67 linked addresses. All variation of 6 properties I have lived in in the last 6 years. My question is, is this normal? Is there any way of getting this number down to '6' addresses which is the case, and also will this affect my chance of getting a mortgage?

No it is not normal! Raise a correction on your file (the website explains how) so they can be tidied up. I can't comment on if this would have an effect on your credit rating/ability to get a mortgage.

I once lived in a property which was known as two different names, but only one ever appeared on my credit file as that was the only one I ever used on credit agreements. Have you used all 67?!

It might affect your application. A lender who believes you've moved that often may well wonder why.......

I have used all 6 addresses for credit accounts but only to inform lender of change of address etc. Those 6 addresses are all of the addresses I have lived at since leaving my parents house (and including their house). It's mind boggling, there aren't 67 different addresses, just 67 entries of the same 6 addresses! I'm so confused

Just request a correction so that all 67 are merged to 6 as it could be different lenders have used different deviations of the same address.

Thats how its meant to be ive got 50 odd linked addresses. Everytime you notify a lender of a change of address each lender will create a link.

This is similar to mine and I had no problem getting a mortgage last year.

I think it's pretty clear to them that it's not 67 addresses, but 67 entries referring to the same few addresses.

Why are there duplicated linked addresses on my credit report?

Linked addresses are retrieved when we search your current address and again when we search any other addresses that are on your application details. Although you may see the same linked address entry several times on your report, there is only one entry showing on our records. Lenders may look at the information recorded at your linked addresses when searching your credit report but they will only see each linked address once.

It really doesn't matter, but if it bothers you we may be able to remove some of the duplicates if you get in touch.

James - I have 131 linked addresses and Experian were about as helpful as a kick in the behind when I emailed about it last year.

I have only lived at 3 addresses in the last 7 years. Why I need to have 131 links is beyond me. Could you not be more like Equifax which simply gives the previous addresses not a zillion linked addresses? It is totally pointless.
