Autoglass

Hi, this is my first time of posting a new thread, so apologies if I have done it wrong, but I am asking if anyone can advise me, I had my windscreen replaced with Autoglass, I have a heated one, they replaced it in June 2010. I didnt need to use the heated element until Winter, it didnt work so reported its failure to Autoglass 17/01/2011, they booked me in for the earliest appointment which was 05/03/2011. I just found out that the old Autoglass is no longer trading but a new company is now trading as Autoglass and they are not responsible for faulty goods of the old Autoglass and refered me to my Insurance company.

I spoke to them and they said nothing they can do. So basically I have a faulty windscreen and no one cares, does anyone know what if anything I can do, or just accept it? I paid by debit card (thanks to worldtraveller for his suggestion).

Thanks

Thanks

"Autoglass" was Autoglass Limited (company #06706737) which was called Belron UK Limited until 19/01/2010. Sometime last year, this changed to Belron UK Limited trading as Autoglass (company #00494648).

Autoglass Limited (#06706737) is still a registered company but now marked as non-trading.

Perhaps have a look at the receipt/invoice and see which company did the work (i.e. post the registered company number here). If it was Autoglass Limited (#06706737), write them a letter to their registered address, which is:

The only thing I can suggest is that you try a charge back through the bank and in line with Visa chargeback rules however as Auto Windscreens is in liquidation I doubt the bank will wear it, as there probably is now no account to reclaim the money from but I fear it is your only option.

Many thanks for your help, I have some good news, although my insurance company said no they had paid out on the claim, I claimed this was unfair and made a complaint, well they contacted me and confirmed that Autoglass is looking after the warranties of the winscreens fitted by Auto Windscreens and they are coming out to replace the windscreen. Autoglass did agree that Auto windscreens should not of let it 6 weeks to book me in so big thank you to Autoglass.

I let you know if it doesnt work, hope this helps other people.
