Boys can be quite bulky rather than fat and healthy guinea pigs often have a round belly so try not to worry but try and make sure that you give him the chance to excersie outside his cage, they love exploring. If you have switched him from museli to pellets, you might notice that he will lose a bit of weight gradually (mine did) also stay clear of any of those treats that pet shops sell that hang in the cage, they are full of seeds and other stuff that does not help with GP's weight.
Some veg like corn and carrot are more fattening than others, I use that to bulk up my older or sick pigs with corn and carrot for the sugar, so avoid over feeding those and fruits like grapes if you are worried about his weight. Everything in moderation as they say!!0 -
Ive always loved Guinea Pigs and we finally got two on Saturday!
Just a quick question, how much does it cost to neuter a boar?0 -
I had a boar done a few months ago and it was £53. if you ring round you may find it a bit cheaper. One vet would do it for £30 but I didn't like look of the place and another quoted £75! Have you got yours together at the moment and is it 2 boys or 1 of each. If its a boy and girl, the female can get pregs at 6 weeks and the boy is fertile from 3 weeks! If its 2 boys theres no point having either done as it does not change their personality, so if they were fighting, it wont help the same as it does in rabbits. The vet would probably not do him till hes 6 months old if its a baby.0

The 2 boy guinea pigs are not 2 boys at all, 1 girl 1 boy so now were having babies, is there anything i should be doing to keep her in good health and her safety. dh is going to build a bedroom for the male tomorrow to keep them separate. luckily the hutch can be made into 2 separate compartment. Im just hoping shes not to young to have babies shes about 14 weeks old now. any advice would be much appreciated.0
