Never take anything at face value, if it look too good to be true, it usually is.
In this case it is too good to be true.
A standard light bulb would probably use more than that, so expect that amount of heat from these.0 -
forgive my typo, 1-2p an hour not day.
Just trying to decide whats best to put in our conservatory to warm things up.
And yes I know its not designed for 12 month use, and it will be expensive to heat........but trying to suss what will be the least expensive wayDebt free since Jan 2016

Anything that uses standard rate electricity is going to be costly to run.0

The claim is actually true....but it's very very misleading. They calculate the numbers by having it on 24/7. So 1p * 24 hours * 30 days = £7.20 per month per radiator. I have gas central heating 6 small radiators and 2 big radiators so if I were to compare to GCH it would cost ((6*1p)+(2*2p)) * 24 hours * 30 days = £72 per month. It doesn't sound so cheap now does it. It also assumes you can get electricity for 8p per unit and there is a lot of rounding involved so the monthly figure could be double that quite easily.forgive my typo, 1-2p an hour not day.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Well, the weather is getting warmer, so any form of heating will be cheaper to run.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

"Ye canna change the laws of physics, captain"
A company has been advertising these in my local paper for a while. By all accounts these output more heat, at less cost, more controllable, and are just crazily cheaper and more efficient than any other form of heating. I wonder why we are not all slinging our gas boilers out for the scrap man?
The only way these are cheaper than a gas radiator system, is if you pay British Gas installation rates and then factor that in to the whole life cost of the system0 -
I've seen these radiators myself and they have me interested. I've recently moved into a flat so only have electric available. The people who moved out left me storage heaters but after reading about them, they seem such a hassle and so out dated.
Storage heaters will be more cost effective than any type of electrical heater that uses standard day rate electricity.0 -
i pay approx 13/15p per kw per hour for my electric.
same as a 1 bar electric fire.
1 or 2p per hour or day?
the only way your going to get 1kw for that sort of money is if you have your son on a bike outside connected to a generator.
although i reeckon itll cost more than 2p per day to feed him.Get some gorm.0 -
amazingly enough, when i swich off my electric fire it uses no power at all. never mind 1 or 2p per day.Get some gorm.0
