Anyone had lower wisdom tooth removed with Gas and Air?

Hello
Just looking for a few words of reassurance
I have a filling in my Wisdom tooth, but it is starting to irritate (I think its the gum but not sure)
The dentist recommends removal of tooth (they did recommend a few years ago but I asked for a filling instead)
I have been referred to a hospital as my dentist don't extract teeth at their practice
Just wondering about other's experience having the tooth removed with entonox? I don't want a GA and I am a bit of a worrier too...
Thanks

hi
i had mine done on both lower sides a couple of years ago-was getting intermittent infections but when the op date came things had settled down but i still went for the op-TOTALLY REGRETTED IT !!!
Def would recommend a GA, wisdom teeth have massive roots and go way deep.
I only took 1 day off work but my face was like a balloon for a week!!! Could only drink though a straw and was IN AGONY! was hilarious as none of my patients noticed my face looked like a ballon!!
My SIL had hers done under local and she was fine.
Not trying to scare you and may not be as bad for only one tooth just thought i'd share my own experience. Good luck with it.GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

Thanks celebrate, Yes everyone experiences are different - I think I would prefer the local as I am likely to worry quite a bit leading up to the procedure.
I have been reading previous posts about wisdom teeth and picked up some good tips about dental hygiene etc will get some cordosyl mouthwash tomorrow and stop using the clove oil I bought today.
Not sure how long it will take to get an appointment, last week I didn't mind.. today would prefer if the tooth was removed within a week! lol
Edit - Not looking forward to the swelling either
Thanks0 -
Are they even giving you the choice of doing it without a GA? That would surprise me and I reckon it would be horrendous! Wisdom teeth can be very difficult to get out. I had both my lowers done under GA - it makes a right mess of your mouth and I'm very glad I was knocked out!0

Ha! I have opted for LA for other minor ops but there is something about pulling teeth that I just don't like the idea of being awake for - especially wisdom teeth that are huge and deep rooted - arrgh!
That said, I was just reading this out of interest and it seems it is most common to have it done under LA:

I haven't had a consultation yet, but I spoke to the dentist who said discuss with them.
I guess every patient has a choice but should be guided by a professional to make an informed choice. Not sure how difficult it will be to remove, but don't think they are impacted as I have a filling.
Funnily enough the area isn't hurting as much now lol :rotfl:0 -

i had my wisdom tooth out and had a local, didnt hurt a bit, worse bit was the noise as he had to cut into my bone to get it out, i had stiches that dissolved after a week or so,but was fine afterwards sore but not too bad, regards Lisa0

I have all my dental treatment done under concious sedation, to me its the best of all worlds - I am completely unaware of anything that is happening but don't have the long recovery of a GA. I have had 2 wisdom teeth removed this way with no problems.0
