you were diddled then. You should have been refunded 2 x £4.17 = £8.34

check behind the stores CS desk, theres usually a few photos (store manager etc) and a placard detailing all about shopping at Tesco...usually about a third up from the bottom theres a bit about refunds DTD etc....wish I could take a photo in my local store....but too scared...perhaps someone else could?
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

I think they only refund up to the price of the item.

Well that is what they do at my local store.

Diddle how? She got the item at the price she was willing to pay?

Another reason to avoid the supermarkets and shop local!

Less chance of being overcharged in a local shop and certainly less chance of having to return something! Quality counts to small retailers - not true for the supermarkets. Plus, their customer service will be infinitely better!

What kind of local? The local butchers (which, ironically, is further away than my nearest tesco) probably has great quality food, no idea about the prices, but I don't really fancy carrying raw meat for an hour on public transport.

My local paper shop charges more per item than tesco, but that's understandable because they can't exploit economies of scale. But it's the same brands as Tesco, so their quality will be the same. Also, with tesco (partly because I usually shop online) I don't get the feeling I'm going to be stabbed by the junkies who usually hang around at the local and steal one can from every drink multipack.

We were hoping an empty plot near me was going to be turned into a shop, but alas, they built a travelodge (next to the premier inn).

Tesco policy is Double The Difference.

It's on the blue boards behind the Customer Service desk.

So if you were charged £5 and your item is £4 you should get £2

They stopped refund and replace ages ago.

    HTH

    OP - you should have had £16 back 2 x £7 and 2 x £1
