Tesco refund policy query

I was overcharged on 2 items today in Tesco and just wanted to query their refund policy.

I bout 3 x bottles of wine as part of their 3 for £12 and was charged full price for each bottle.

I also was charge £2 for a bulb which was marked up at half price (£1).

The customer services guy confirmed the overcharge and refunded me the difference ie wine came to £19 and so refunded me £7 and refunded me £1 for the bulb.

Is this now the norm for Tesco refund as i'm sure it used to be double the difference etc. I didn't ask, as i'm really not aware of their policies anymore!

Similar story for me today (5 March 2011) - bought two 4xpacks of Guinness which should have been 6pound for the two (offer) but was charged 2x3.49. At the desk was refunded just 98p.
Last week we were refunded twice the overcharge in a similar situation. In times past I have been refunded twice the value of the item - so effectively getting it free and money in the pocket.

Trouble with this double the difference is that it makes you feel as if you actually want to be overcharged.:rotfl::rotfl:
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Found myself cursing under my breath the other day when I saw that an offer I was sure would be mis-charged went through ok :rotfl:

Yes it was meant to be Double refund :)

Although saying that, I've searched online and I can't find much about it. They USED to do refunds where you'd get your money back AND keep the item, but they had to stop it after loosing out on £100,000 as people were buying xboxes that were priced at £297 but the till clocked £300 (something like that - prices).

Another reason to avoid the supermarkets and shop local!

Less chance of being overcharged in a local shop and certainly less chance of having to return something! Quality counts to small retailers - not true for the supermarkets. Plus, their customer service will be infinitely better!

Ah not always true lol :) I've been short changed in local shops more than I have in supermarkets :(

HOWEVER YES you get a better relationship with your local, I buy my paper and my bits and bobs from them and I can walk in and have a great little chat :)

Near me there are TWO next to each other and my neighbour went into one, bought something, came out and went to the other to buy something else, all he got was abuse becuase 'he wasn't supporting his local'.......they're both his local :o Plus the other one didn't have what he wanted lol.

There is good and bad in all.
Watched 'The Peoples Supermarket'??? It's FAB!

    :D

They then lost out, as I guess I'm not alone that the free xbox then broke so went back and was refunded.

I then bought another but the price had dropped, so I got to keep some cash! Which also broke and they refunded.

The price had dropped so when I then bought another I got more free cash.

Each time, getting Clubcard points that I used for deals.

Wouldn't get that from a local shop.

  • I bought aeriel liquid in Mr T's this week as it said on offer for £4 not £8.17 but when I checked my receipt it charged me the full price. So went back and they refunded the full £8.17 and I kept the product.
