    Back in 2003, we bought a 40% share in a flat through shared ownership scheme but paid stamp duty on the whole amount. We sold this flat via housing assosciation in 2005. Can we claim back any stamp duty from HMRC does anyone know?

    I never gave it a thought until I saw this thread. The most gutting thing is I don't think we needed to pay any at all because 40%of full value would have been well under the threshold, but at the time we thought buy a bigger share later iyswim.
