So much for HBOS wanting to be classed with the big boys! Surely the branches can't be busy all the time?0 -
I think the space thing can be translated to "we can't be bothered".
Does anyone think that proper banks are better at taking change than former mutuals and building societies?
Most places don't have limits on the number of bags that can be paid into childrens accounts so that is a way round it. Pay it into the childs accounts then withdraw it the next time you are in.0 -
In our local Barclays there is a change machine which you tip in all your coins and it gets added to your account!0

Spot on. The big banks will accept the coins no problem.KatieKins wrote:In our local Barclays there is a change machine which you tip in all your coins and it gets added to your account!
They also have this machine at selected HSBC branches0 -
Could try so much at one bank and then some more at another and at the post office. I'd try and avoid lunch times tho when they'll be busy.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

The reason why copper is only legal tender up to 20p is because people were paying debts in copper just to be bloody minded.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

I use HSBC for our church banking and have been known to bank up to £200 a time in coppers - its the counting it all out and bagging up at home that is a pain. I also use the fast banking system - put all of the coins bagged up into a big grey bag with a paying in slip in side and they just stamp the receipt and give it to you. Sorted!0

A lady I work with takes all her change to Asda, she said that you put all your coins into a 'change machine', it counts it up, issues you with a coupon to take to the CS desk, and they give you your cash. Funny enough, I saw one being set up in my local Tesco this afternoon aswell. On the downside, surely there would be a charge wouldn't there ?
I am in the future you know...
...9 hours ahead to be exact !:D0 -
Yes they will. One thing you must not do is take it to those silly machines in the supermarket; they can cost you up to 17%!0
