Hi
I think everyone's baskets are fantastic!Really inspiring.
I've already got most people's presents from boots with my vouchers off pigsback and survey sites, and got 3 for 2 on gifts....BUT i really need some ideas now for my husband. And i love the idea of making up a box/basket of some kind for him, making it really special
We've set ourselves a small budget this xmas, as we're really skint and agreed on £25 for a suprise pressie eachwe've recently treated ourselves to a few things in sales etc so dont need much anyway.
I dont know where to start though! He's really into his fish keeping (hes got tropical fish tank in our living room and is mad over them) and loves films.... but apart from that im a bit stuck. I need to keep away from naughty foods-as hes loosing weight at the moment (lost a stone so far-really proud of him) and i dont want to discourage him from that.
So any ideas would be much appreciated! (and sorry to butt in by the way)

I've only just started it and so far I have stem ginger in syrup and ginger sauce. I'll also get some ginger nuts, posh ginger biccies (Duchy Originals I think) and some chocolate coated ginger from the health food shop. I'll make her a little felt gingerbread man and maybe put in a biscuit one too. I'll arrange it all in a nice basket and put some brown tissue paper around it and a big orange bow.
But what about something non-food related? What could I put in there? Any ginger smellies around?
TIA
Hiya Mollymunchkin - I posted a recipe for Ginger fudge earlier in this thread. If you're feeling energetic you could make this. Molton Brown (Not in the least moneysaving, but gorgeous) also do a fab Gingerlily range. You could buy small bottles - they do travel size ones. Also check out the body shop and Sainsburys own brand naturals range.
Good luck!0 -
I've seen some large gift bags in my local Martins the newsagent for 99p, and i also would say that Tesco's finest ginger cookies are the best!

These are brillant, well done all! I'm feelign really inspired to doa couple this year but do I have time? I'm worried about panicking on finding the last few items and ruining the whole thing. I'm also not very creative, could someone please kindly help with a couple of ideas?
Mum - Is into her choccy (but is doing very well with her diet so don't want to fill a basket with fatty stuff lol) and very into her crafts, she likes making cards, decoupage that kind of thing.
Dad - A thorough-bred Scot who loves his Whisky and shortbread. Those are the obvious things but I'm not very good at thinking out of the box, HELP!
I could easily spend a fortune but would like to stick to a budget if I can0 -
Am loving this thread... thanks for all the great ideas. Will be doing a couple of the retro sweet bouquets like jamtarts fab examples and a few pamper hampers.
Have just got back from hunting for baskets to no avail. Still have a few more options to look into later this week.
Thought of a good Christmas option that I haven't seen on here for stuffing the bottom of baskets instead of tissue or shredded paper..... TINSEL. Could look very effective and Christmassy and you can get it pretty cheap. and can possibly be re-used by the recipeint!
Also in wilkinsons/wilkos they had some nice round christmas cake tins small £1.49, med £1.99 and large £2.49. Thought these might be a good option instead of baskets for some hampers?0 -
I just wanted to thank Jam tart for her gingerbread man suggestion. I saw it on the under a fiver thread and its really helped me out this year. Great fun idea for family....thanks again...xxxx0

Am I the only one who finds him utterly gorgeous?
The baskets on here are so inspiring. The makers should be so proud of themselves. :T I had no plans to buy anything more, but am definately going to put a couple of little hampers together for the kids and my husband. They'll love them and will be completely unexpected!
Thanks for sharing pics with us all. It is such a great help!0 -
