Thnak You Mary43 for the welcome, I agree evryone is so helpul :T
aureol212 :A thank you so much for the suggestions my mother did love to read but she can`t follow books and is having problems with working the CD/TAPE/RADIO system in the kitchen. Though it made me think of the picture book I bought for MIL ( 1940`s) i`ll see If I can find an East End one for her with old photos.
She also likes countdown as it helps her memory and is photo mad. So excellent prompting there !!
OH likes the countryside we live in Shropshire is a big Sci Fi fan so I did think buying Clone wars if I can find it cheap enough Dvd are so expensive. There are never buy one get one half price deals !. Though I belong to juicypanel surveys so I save my vouchers for Christmas time, but, I am buying a couple for other ppl already . !!
RustyFlange thanks for the terramundi tip they can have an extended life span !!

what a fab idea about the photo book. If your mother is struggling with the combi system in the kitchen, what about a portable CD player or a tape player on its own? That way your mother only has to use one item. PM me if you are interested in the portable CD player. I am going out in a minute, DS needs fresh air.
Not sure if there is a Countdown game on DVD, but you could maybe make your own to play at Christmas?
I'm not sure about Shropshire, but if you try Yahoo groups, look to see if there is a Freecycle group in your area. Join the group and you will be amazed at what people are giving away. There might be something of use to you... In my local freecycle group, one person was giving away tons of video tapes of some shows, think it was sci fi, and another freecycler happily took the whole lot for happy evenings of watching.
Or even post one item yourself to give away, can be anything, a book, etc. and then post a wanted advert - maybe something sci-fi for OH or something to do with the countryside. A book on the different birds in your area... a book on the wild flowers etc.
You could create a treasure hunt for your OH in the countryside, obviously need to put clues somewhere safe for him to find, or go with him, and as he solves each clue, and ends up at the right place, hand another clue to him...
hth, really must go now. x0 -

Thanks, but it was the teenager's mum, not mine.
It's a metal bucket type thing (but without the handle). It came in a set of three I bought for myself from La Redoute. It was one of those 'like them, will find a use' purchases where I never got around to actually using them, but once the hamper bug caught they finally had a purpose, lol - one went to eldest's teacher with a plant in it the other year, there's this one, and the last I'm keeping for my mum's birthday in January as it's her colour.
This picture should show it a bit better -DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Gorgeous hampers earthmother, wish I was a friend of yours
Rusty, fab black and white hamper, your OH is going to be over the moon with that little lot. It is literally crammed with stuff isn't it, will take him an age to look at that little lot on Xmas day, after he's given you all a massive 'thank you' hug :T:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
earthmother many thanks for the extra picture, I do like that very much, what a great use. I was just thinking a couple of those for plants in my garden would look lovely too but hubbies threatened anymore and he's moving out LOL0
