I can't afford to subscribe to a magazine for her. She isn't able to craft at the moment due to all her stuff being put away for now due to moving rooms around splitting a room into two etc before the baby was born and things are still a mess.
Hi, sianb84
was just marvelling at the lovely baskets when I saw your post. You mention a magazine subscription is expensive, but have you had a look at the thread for magazine subs? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=182314&page=72
there are a lot of 3 issues for £1 offers currently taking place and £1-£6 offers with free gifts. Just remember to cancel the direct debit before the next payment date.
Some of these offers are from the magazine group, so if you go through quidco you will get once £4.80 and through topcashback £4.80 per subscription. So she will have lots to read and you will still earn some money to buy the baby a gift!!
If you see my post #1406 there are a few free magazines you can pick from and choose one for her. HTH
To keep this related to the thread: where can I get cheap baskets? any advice on ebay sellers for the cellophane?
Many thanks.0 -

Hi pcg, I maintain a thread that you can see HERE in which I have listed bargain baskets that have been brought to my attention. They have been listed in the first post. Obviously this is by no means an exhaustive list as I can only post those that others tell me about, or that I happen to find in shops/online myself. HTH

Your baskets are lovely and I have decided thats what Iam going to do. Bought my baskets today Matalan half price sale seagrass set of 3 one large and 2 medium for £7.50. so will need to start buying the contents now
Also seen nice baskets in Homebase set of three with leather look handles bright pink or blue or green think they were £7.50 also.

Hey, not a problem. My thread is there if you need it and I am always glad of the pointers towards new locations as I live in a very small town and can't find these bargains on my own very often. Mind you, I am going away next week for a couple of days so will be making careful note of the bargains thjat I do find to share with you all."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Love this thread. I have started hampers, so will post pictures when I can.
Just a thought: I love the baskets but am having problems finding cheap ones. What about orange carts, you know the wooden boxes they have in fruit shops or on market stalls, I'm sure they just throw them away when they're done with them. They would be free if you asked them for some and you could just paint or spray paint them whatever colour you like and line them with tissue. This would be probably be good for the food hampers rather than the pamper hampers. I think the pamper hampers look good in the baskets.
Just an idea anyway.0 -
I made some hampers last year and got some great containers from poundland obviously for a pound each! The one for my mum and dad was a wicker washing basket which they are able to use again. Then for my niece and nephew I used one pink and one blue plastic box which had lids. I put the lids on the bottom and when I had filled with contents put the cellophane all round the box. They were able to use the boxes to store toys etc. So they were only £1 each so worth looking for different things to use for hampers.0

I also saw that someone had done a gardening hamper but put it all in one of those plastic caddies that you carry around cleaning things in, they are really cheap to buy, less than £1 I think. Would be good for the car wash hampers also.0

I finally managed to get some piccys of some of my hampers. I used the lovely hat boxes from Argos (thanks mumofone). I'm not to happy with the way i've wrapped them though so I think i'll have to do it again.
This one is mostly freebies and Boots clearance stuff, although there is a Protect & Perfect serum thingy in there so the total must be around £20!
And these are a couple of the wrapped ones! What the Deuce?0
