Arghhhhhhhhh been to poundland, poundworld, 99p store, b+m, au natural, wilkinsons and home and bargain, and not ONE basket could I find *sob* I'm not keen to spend more than £2 on a basket which i know is tight but would rather spend the extra on the present than the basket. Anyone seen them in their stores ????

I'd suggest you just keep looking... I think many of the discount shops tend to start selling gift bags/boxes/baskets around the time the decorations start being displayed, so you should start to see them soon. Poundland do a lovely wicker basket - it's like a mini-washing basket and ideal if you are doing a small/medium sized hamper.

I get a lot of my baskets from charity shops / car boot sales, and even then it's not always guaranteed that you can get any! With charity shops and car boot sales, it's best to search all year round and just pick up nice ones as and when you see them - I have a nice collection under my desk now!

Thanks for telling us about this deb. If you need more inspiration on where to get baskets and stuff then have a lookAT THIS THREAD. I have added your baskets to the first post.

  • Last year my sister did a hamper for my little sister and her boyfriend who were thinking about moving in together. She went to Poundland and bought a washing basket (for £1 FUNNILY ENOUGH!) and then went round the store filling it with kitchen utensils, glasses, dusters, polish and loads of other housey bits and pieces. The whole thing came to £20 and was very well received and it is now being put to very good use!

EDIT: Yes Kaja I just checked and have seen them - they look great!! Thats where I got the idea for the mint one for my Dad because he loves boiled sweets I have done one side of the 'twin' organiser box with mints, and the other side is hard boiled sweets eg. chocolate limes, blackcurrant and liquorice, fox's glacier fruits etc so that the mint taste doesnt get on everything!!!

Are they on the retro sweety box thread? If so, then possibly? I'm having great fun making my sweety box with all these mints and boiled sweets as we speak! I HEART Christmas!

    And my Retro sweet box

    Top-tips!
It's best to do more than one at a time 'cos you buy bags of sweets in Tesco/Asda that will fill quite a few compartments.
Make them up near Christmas if they are unwrapped sweets, so they don't go soft.
Hide them after you make them or you will be tempted to eat them as they are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!;)

    HELP!

I have no idea what to get OH's sister this year. Usually get her craft things but due to just having a baby she has had to put craft stuff to one side (everything is chaos due to room changes etc). We got her bath goodies and chocolates for her birthday so don't want to get the same for Christmas. I thought I would do her a hamper but am totally stuck as to what to put in it.

I love crafting and when I had my baby I had no time but I think I would have appreciated a hamper full of craft goodies and a magazine to really inspire me and make me want to get my life back and do something. A magazine subscription would be excellent because when i was tied down to constant feeds having something good to read was a godsend.

My sister has just had a baby and i'm planning to get the Annabel Karmel range of things from boots and make her a weaning hamper as the baby will be nearly four months then. I've also done one for her too with posh hair bobbles, nice socks, mug and hot chocolate, etc etc.

Have you thought about getting her a photo session and a nice album or perhaps a gift voucher for a manicure or something. Just try to think. You're an alien inside your own body, you get nothing to yourself anymore. What would you love and appreciate? What would make you feel good?

Sorry i rambled hope i helped xx
