See !!!!!! above. Endorsement is three years according to him. I've never heard of five years before.
Driving 50 years.0 -
No, points only count in the totting up process (for 12 point ban) for 3 years, endorsement is 4 years before dropping off the licence, however the fine is not classed as a spent conviction until 5 years.

Driving 50 years.
((sigh))
I was referring to insurance companies wanting points declared for five years.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
IME, but this is going back been good for a fair number of years.
1 SP30 made little difference to the cost,
2 SP30 and it made the £60 fine insignificant.
Don't get 2 close together thats up to 5 years of higher premiums.
Maybe these days they are loading more for 1 sp30.0 -

Rubbish.,
I got 2 SP30's with 1 year, have 3 cars all Insured with different companies and it made no difference. In all cases they stated it was 3 SP30's that would increase the premium. The DWP = Legally kicking the Disabled when they are down.0 -
A quick google shows this: http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/Road_Traffic_Law/Rehabiliation_of_Offenders_Act which states fines remain "unspent" for 5 years for those over 18 years old.
After this time you do not have to declare them to anyone unless the requester has an exemption (eg: if you apply to be a police officer). We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

A bit of a sweeping statement there.
Churchill insurance.
A 46 year old driver, Ford Focus 1.6 (2002). Full NCD and clean driving history
£320.12
As above but with 1 SP30 in December last year. All other details the same.
£438.84
Two SP30's and they won't offer insurance.
Admiral insurance.
Same details as above
£297.16
One SP30
£355.97
So which was the rubbish post?0 -

Thanks to everyone who explained where 5 years comes into it.
I had to declare all three of my speeding convictions, dating back to 1978, when I filled in a security form for access to the Scottish Parliament. I had to guess the date of the middle one as I couldn't remember exactly when it was!0 -

Well going on my experience, yours.
Well, that your choice to make, but my post was backed up with facts (which can very easily be checked by getting an online quote from the 2 insurance companies that I mentioned).Very strange as one of my cars is insured via Churchill who stated 2 SP30's in a year wouldnt load my Insurance ????
Why strange? The post that you referred to as rubbish didn't state 2 SP30's in a year. They clearly stated that if you "get 2 close together" then it will affect your insurance.
I've just amended the details with Churchill, and for 2 SP30's 11 months apart, the premium will be £549. (up from £320 with a clean licence)
Which 3 companies are you insured with? so I can get a quote from them to see what results they give0
