how long does it take an sp30 to expire so you do not need declare t when applying for insurance. My 3 points are 3 years old this summer.
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

5 years, generally (even though they drop off your licence after 4).

they count towards a 12 point ban for 3 years.
they can not be removed from your licence for a further 12 months so 4 years total and yu have to pay to have them removed if you want even though they dont count then.
and for insurance its generally 5 years that insurance companies ask for.

They must remain printed on your licence for 4 years from date of offensive, but insurance asks for the last 5 years.

As the previous two posts have stated they drop off your licence after 4 years but insurance companies ask for convictions in the last 5 years. Does anyone know whether they have a legal right to ask for information on an expired conviction, and if they don't have a right can they refuse a claim if you don't tell them?

Thanks for that guys and/or gals. Last I heard was 3 years, so they've changed it. Think my last one was 2002, but as I still had the paper licence, it stayed on there until I went to photocard this year.
(I know I could have applied for a new licence so it didn't stay on there, but what the heck....1 SP30?)

Because under the rehabilitation of offenders act the fine is not spent until the 5 year point.

Speeding fines don't count towards this do they? Certainly not from the point of view of an employer...

The endorsement doesn't fall under the act but the fine does.
An endorsement on a driving licence, does not fall within the definition of the act so cannot affect the rehabilitation period. It is unlikely, however, that a person would receive penalty points without a fine, disqualification (see below) or prison sentence.

For example If a client was Caught Speeding and was given 3 Points and a £60 fine in this case it is the fine of £60 that would result in a 5-year rehabilitation period, not the endorsement.
