My rights on a faulty laptop from CURRYS!

Hello there,
I bought a laptop last May which means it is still under it's year warranty from Currys. After about a month the screen started to blink really bad so i sent it off to the tech guys and it wasnt fixed. So I sent it away a second time and it worked without blinking for about 2 weeks and now it has started again. This laptop obviously has a hardware problem and it has been sent away twice. I am going to bring it into Currys tomorrow, can anyone tell me what my rights are and am I entitled to a replacement?
Any help would be greatly appricated.
Thank You

In a word, No. But ask them to review the previous repair job and depending how long it took to resolve the problem the first two repairs (probably will count as one) they might offer to replace it in store.0

I would probably allow them to send it away for repair, but get someone to agree that if it's returned to you and has the same fault again, then they'll replace it. Could happen - I'd say three failed repairs would be worth replacing on.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I would disagree. Whilst, legally there's no limit as the number of repairs that can be offered, the OP would have a strong case to argue that any further repairs would cause a significant inconvenience and as such they should be entitled to an alternative remedy such as a suitable replacement.
If you can prove significant inconvenience yes. But its a lot harder for computers because if you were using it for business thats a different law entirely. While many of us see computers as a necessity, 99% of the stuff done on them is for personal enjoyment.
So while the OP doesn't have a leg to stand on for significant inconvenience (and you would have to be really inconvenienced in order to fall under this) the OP does have a case for reasonable timeframe, and as Esquil has said, one more than thats that.0 -
I would say try to get a replacement. I would say that having had it sent away twice already for a repair and having the laptop come back still faulty has caused you enough inconvienience and that you're not satisfied that the repairers have failed to fix the problem twice.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

I don't understand how the timescales work in your post:-Hello there,
I bought a laptop last May which means it is still under it's year warranty from Currys. After about a month I month after may would put this event sometime in June/max July the screen started to blink really bad so i sent it off to the tech guys and it wasnt fixed Assuming 3-4 weeks for the repair we are now in late July / early Sept . So I sent it away a second time and it worked Another 3 / 4 weeks for the repair gives late Aug / maybe Oct without blinking for about 2 weeks and now "Now" would be Sept or early Nov at the latest it has started again. This laptop obviously has a hardware problem and it has been sent away twice. I am going to bring it into Currys tomorrow, can anyone tell me what my rights are and am I entitled to a replacement?
Any help would be greatly appricated.
Thank You
It may seem an odd thing to query, but it's not uncommon to find that stories that do not add up often have missing info that is highly pertinent; And, in the case of warranties, timescales can be very important.
Some clarification might be helpful? :cool:0
