They have not opened a SNAD case, just emailed me.
It might just be me but the two parts I've quoted above make me wonder about the motives of the buyer.
They make it sound as if they are fully aware of the system and that is why they haven't started a proper case and are in effect trying blackmail first.
I'd stick to your guns and keep quoting Ebay rules/guidance and see if they do really post it back, bet they won't...0 -

You're keyboard appears to be stuck, or you have a deeper problem.
Ok as you clearly don't understand the buyer, or his understanding of paypal.
(Probably not, as he doesn't try to scam every day, unlike your suggestion as a seller perhaps?)
He has paid £2,95 for an item.
He is expected to have to pay postage to return it.
So as he has paid £2.95 the seller can refund only £2.95 for this transaction.
The extra postage to return it, he would expect the seller to send him as a gift through paypal.
As he would expect a refund of £2.95 for the ebay transaction, as a refund so no fees, but the extra, for the return postage, if it is a gift, he will have to pay fees on to claim it, fees of say 25p.
So he expects the seller to pay the fees, so he is back to where he was before he bought the item.
(If he had read this, I bet he wishes he just raised an INR instead, and hadn't been so honest)0 -
And just to clarify - this is a private seller, not business, clearly stated.
Why would he not do an INR if he's a scammer? Because disputes are recorded by both ebay and paypal and could flag your account as a problem. If he's doing it fairly often, he won't want to go through the process.
What I always do for relatively cheap items is ask for them to be returned the cheapest way, with the sender getting proof of postage. If it goes missing, on receipt of the POF, I refund the lot and make the claim myself.
He could just open a new account every week, and raise as many INR's as he wants to.0 -
I'd accept the return and refund them the original payment. Probably the easiest thing to do. They seem to be aware that Paypal will only refund the original amount which will be why they haven't opened a dispute yet.
Buyers seem to be doing this more and more with private sellers - obviously things do get damaged in the post, but I think sometimes they just make it up because they've changed their mind.0 -

just to say, having read through the post, I've taken on board the valid points. I am human and appreciate mistakes can be made. The disc was checked before sent, I didn't advertise it as new or in perfect condition. It was advertised as great condition, which it was/is, but all that is besides the point.
I am willing to do a partial refund and buyer can keep it (i really dont want my clutter back in my house!) and if still not happy then I am sticking to my original offer of a full refund on receipt of item.

I wouldn't say in this case, but maybe sellers are describing poor/used as good condition more and more, and seeming surprised when the buyer disagrees.0
