i need a broadband connection at my new flat.
i have been told by bt that i have to pay to have a line connected/installed, but if i connect with them its free.
whats the best way to do this?
do i get my phone line and broadband from them and not pay for the connection or do i pay for the connection and get the phone line and broadband else were.
i would want 20mb and unlimited bandwidth, the phone doesn't matter to me as i have unlimited calls on my mobile.
i'm unable to get virgin.

20MBps on a BT ADSL line is unlikely unless you have BT Infinity available.
Go to https://www.samknows .com and do an exchange search for your available LLU providers.
Then use the exchange mapping facility to get an indication of likely speeds at the relevant postcode.
As far as reconnection is concerned, use the provider that's cheapest over the length of the contract, with the reconnection charge factored in (clue-it's unlikely to be BT).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Determine the ISP first. Then you can determine whether or not they offer an all-in-one package with the line rental and if that's an option you want to take. ISPs which can install the line include, but are not limited to, O2, BE, Zen, IDNET, AAISP (all top rated) with PlusNet and Virgin National as options too. There is no need for you to deal with BT unless you specifically want their services.
Zen have just won best ISP of the year. Again.0
