help with a focus and a mysterious clunking noise!

Not quite on topic, but the last time I had my car serviced at a Ford garage they told me I would soon need new rear bushes, for about £300 to £400 inc. fitting I think. They wanted me to decide on the phone to have them done that day but instead I took it to the local independent to have it checked and he said the bushes were fine. I've taken it to him ever since for servicing - at least 2 years now - and the bushes are still fine.
