OP...If you haven't done so already, try writing an email to John Browett, Dixons Group/ Currys/PCWorld/ Mastercare Chief Executive, at john.browett@dixons.co.uk and explain your situation. As I 'm sure you will, be polite and include who you have been in contact with at Currys in your email.

He is pro-active with emails and should respond within 3-working days.

Good luck.
• Did the coverplan not cover accidental damage? All i can find online says it does/did?

If it did, why did you not accidentally break it?

Because thats dishonest.

Also I take offense at your Quote. I'd prefer MSE to be a place where I can come without having politics or religion shoved down my esophagus. So I'll say this once, You'r wrong regarding the SNP.

Just wondering....did you recover the computer to rule out software corruption? If it was starting OK in safe mode, that leads me to think that it may have been a driver or something stopping it starting in full. Which, although a tricky area. is generally not covered as it's a result of how it's been used (whether intentionally or not). That could be why, although it doesn't look like that was explained to you.
Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler

I don't have a quote, i have a signature. I presume this is what you are talking about?

I prefer MSE to be troll free, but as your previous postings show, this may not be possible.

Everything on my signature is true.

Sorry, I apologize it is the signature, and yes some of them are true. But they wouldn't be able to offer them if the SNP got their way in a independent Scotland.

Just to reiterate, the only starting in safe mode problem sounds to me more software/driver related so something that probably wouldn't normally be covered I would expect. Again with the sound, that could also be driver related so if the laptop has been disposed of you might have a job on your hands proving that Currys should have paid out for a new laptop.
I'd take the £100.

I reckon your best bet is to write to them again, stating you want the £299 refunded. If they don't, ask for a final response, and you can then take your complaint forward to the Financial Ombudsman Service who can arbitrate. They may also award compensation where they see fit.

On a side note though, you should write to the Insurer and not Currys directly. Most insurance policies sold in retail outlets are underwritten by separate insurers.

You cannot take Currys to the Ombudsman, the whateverhappens is not an insurance policy. It's a service plan with none of the protection for the consumer of an insurance product
• I've always said these cover plans are a waste of time, and this thread reaffirms this. Some good advice up there though.
