You could use PrintFolders, a free program which lets you save all (or specific) folder/file names to a text file.0

It's a fault that a couple of us had after buying the Dell.
When I put a disc into the CD/DVD tray it freezes the whole machine. Unfortunartely it only happens sporadically and so is difficult to detect the fault. I have the 3 year waranty and Dell replaced the dvd drive, unfortunatley the fault continues.
I could have just been unlucky had it not been for another MSe'er having the same problem, we have both had the drives exchanged, both being given new different drives but the problem has continued.
Sorry if that sounds rambling but it is v. frustrating

You must have 60,000+ files, so any printing utility will generate lots of pages. You could use /W on the DIR command to list several filenames on each line and reduce the number of pages.georgiac wrote:I've done that, but it's pretty ugly work. I know beggars and choosers etc etc. Do you happen to know any other way that doesn't read out as such gobbledy gook or at over 1000 pages long?0 -
Hi Chippy, yes I need to do some pruning, I'm a photographer so it's mainly images.

Is there any pattern to the CD problem, are they blanks, rewriteable, commercial, scratched?
is there anything in start, run, eventvwr when it hangs?
Have you updated you burning software?
If you are going to wipe the disk, have you backed everything up?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

I've got about 130 programmes loaded and rather than write out the list I wondered if there is a way of printing out what is in the Program file and subdirectories?
Hello georgiac, if you are using Outlook (I don't I use Outlook Express) but I seem to remember in Outlook there is a function to do just that. Search around Outlook and try the Outlook Help.0 -
There does not appear to be any discernable pattern, blanks, bought, recorded cd's and dvd's, the same disc does it once and then never again.
Start doesn't work when it happens, all I can do is eject the disc but that doesn't reset it and I have to do a forced restart.
