How do I print a list of my programmes and documents?

Hi.
I bought one of the great value dell computers from BT but it has a fault with XP, which means it needs a reformat.
I've got about 130 programmes loaded and rather than write out the list I wondered if there is a way of printing out what is in the Program file and subdirectories?
Any advice gladly accepted, thanks.

CCleaner has a tool which lists installed programs. Click Tools - Uninstall - Save to text file and then print the file.0

A simple DIR command should suffice. Click Start - Run - type cmd and click OK.georgiac wrote:Next dumb question, can I use the same programme to list my folders in My Documents? For example can I list my songs/albums in My Music?
In the command window that's just opened type:
cd my*
dir /s > files.txt
notepad files.txt
If you just want folders use:
dir /a:d /s > files.txt0 -
..........and you call that simple!!!!!!!! Are you a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist by any chance, Chippy?
I've done that, but it's pretty ugly work. I know beggars and choosers etc etc. Do you happen to know any other way that doesn't read out as such gobbledy gook or at over 1000 pages long?0 -
