Nope, DVLA are wrong again, it's 5 working days, you also don't have to display your old tax disc, DVLA are wrong on that aswell.
(1B) A person is not guilty of an offence under subsection (1) or (1A) by
using or keeping a vehicle on a public road during any of the 5 working
days following the time when a licence or nil licence for the vehicle, or
a relevant declaration applying to the vehicle, ceases to be in force, if an
application for a licence or nil licence for or in respect of the vehicle to
run from that time has been received before that time.0 -

(1C)In subsection (1B) “working day” means any day other than—
(a)a Saturday or Sunday, or
(b)a day which is Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a bank holiday under the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 in any part of the United Kingdom.
(1D)For the purposes of subsection (1B)—
(a)there is a relevant declaration applying to a vehicle if the particulars and declaration required to be furnished and made by regulations under section 22(1D) have been furnished and made in relation to the vehicle in accordance with the regulations, and
(b)the relevant declaration ceases to be in force if, after the particulars and declaration have been furnished and made—
(i)the vehicle is used or kept on a public road (otherwise than under a trade licence), or
(ii)the period of 12 months beginning with the day on which the particulars and declaration were furnished and made expires.”0 -
The above answers an uncertainty I had about the 5 days grace applying to SORNed vehicles, As long as you buy the disc online before you put the vehicle on the road, you will have the 5 days grace aswell..... good to get that cleared up.
Strictly speaking, I guess you also get any bank holiday anywhere in UK even if you are in England where, for example, the Scottish bank holiday does not normally apply.0 -
wow thanks for all your advice. Its been playing on my mind all night. I got the driving license changed as soon as i moved i just forgot the v5 as it was buried in a box somewhere. Ill ring up today and see what dvla say, but good to know i wont get 'done' over the weekend, as there is a lot of anpr cameras around my areaEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0

The only option you have to is buy a new one form the post office, ring up the DVLA or visit your DVLA local office and fill in a V33 with a letter explaining.0
