dvla redirections?

I have literally just changed address and forgot to take my v5 to the post office. I applied for a tax disc online (4 days ago) and has not yet come. There is an active redirection on my old property to my new one. Just wondered whether it will be be redirected?

Tax disc envelopes don't have "Do not redirect" printed on them, as far as I can recall, so I don't see any reason why not.

I'm ex DVLA but left 2 years ago so things may have changed!

The official line is no it won't get re-directed. However as the above poster has said, with royal Mail who knoes! Plenty used to get re-directed when I was there, but they shouldn't be.

If you ring DVLA, they may be able to re-send to different address or you can arrange pick up at local DVLA office.

if i call up and they resend will that extend the 5 day period so i dont end up getting told off by the police?

No I don't think they will, as that's a law not a DVLA thing IYKWIM.

They will be open today (from 8am I think) so ring and ask for advice. Quickest option will probably be to pick it up from DVLA office on Monday.

Your 5 days ends on 11:59pm Monday 7th - 5 working days

I don't know but I would buy a new one at the PO on Monday then ask them for refund of the online purchase returning your disc when you finally recieve it. Ask DVLA on the phone on Monday to cancel the online purchase & refund, so that you can go to the PO to buy.

No mention of " working days ", so it looks like it is just 5 days;

From the DVLA Web Site;

" When you apply for a tax disc online or by using our phone service you are able to legally continue to drive your vehicle for up to 5 days after the tax disc has expired while you wait for the new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply when you have applied for a new tax disc before the current one expires. You should continue to display the expired disc on your vehicle, until the new one arrives "
