My SSP has expired- ie there is no more to come from my employrer- as far as they tell me - at all.
@ imeldaBut I do think the job thing is most pressing, how can they say that you cannot take on paid employment whilst contracted to them, what do they expect you to live on? Can your GP give you a new certificate so you can claim SSP at least?
Hr have told me to look for jobs outside the council- which of course Im doing, but with this months notice- getting temp work is pointless, Im not allowed to work anyway- unless i hand my notice in now with a view to being able to work in January  thats ages off???
@twllydAre you well enough to do any work on a self-employed basis while you wait for your employment to get sorted?
Yes! im fully fit to work, but what sort of thing do you mean. I have nothing left to sell though.
At silvercar- can I get a loan given the fact I have no income, if for whatever reason the flat sale doesnt come off, we could be lumbered with a loan we have no way of paying?? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...

Can someone give me advice please on how to proceed.
Get the sick note ASAP - don't be a muppet, you know the games and misinformation that can happen.
Once exchanged, deposit will be with solicitor - quite often people pass deposit up chain to vendor for them to use to buy, may be possible to do to rent ??? Or at least access as surity on short term loan.
You're in London, you obviously spend a lot of time on here and like doing so.
apply for a job say:

Lynz I really don't know what to say but couldn't read and run.
Is there any possibibility of having your illness diagnosed? It may help you if the illness officially comes under the DDA. I believe you have a right to view the information held about you- i.e. medical report- in your HR file so if they haven't responded to a written request from you I believe they're in breach of the DPA. I'm no expert but as a manager I've dealt with several members of staff on long-term sick leave and one thing I've found is that independent medical reports are getting more and more vague and do not usually give firm opinions on whether or not the employee can work so it makes me suspicious that they haven't shown you this report that says you shouldn't be working with the general public.

True, just trying to think of ideas. Would need to be an overdraft facility, then if the flat sale doesn't come off you stay in the flat and don't draw on your overdraft.
If your employer made you redundant could you claim Job Seeker's allowance? I know its not what you want, but an employer that is not paying you anything is useless. I don't understand why they are not obliged to pay you while they find you a position. you were signed off, your now available for work, so they should be paying you "garden leave" if nothing else until they find you a position. Think you need advice on this one. could you find a solicitor that gives a free half hour.
As far as entitlement to benefits and housing are concerned, it seems that the authorities see you and your OH as one unit. So assess your needs on the basis of combined income, whereas you are trying to tackle your lack of money on your own.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you've made the decision to leave, I wouldn't worry about the notice period - what are they going to do, dock your pay?? At the least I'd start jobhunting.lynzpower wrote:Yes! im fully fit to work, but what sort of thing do you mean. I have nothing left to sell though.
Is direct sales your kind of thing? I was thinking about stuff like the businesses here http://www.mumandworking.co.uk/job-Directory, but it isn't right for everyone. And you do usually have to come up with a bit of money up front, so maybe that's not the best idea.
Will you have enough money once the sale goes through to find a flat? Once you exchange, the buyer should be obliged to give you the deposit if it falls through, so you should be OK borrowing the money short term. Or (if you can find somewhere to store your stuff) how about trying to find something like a caravan or an empty holiday let for a month or so?0 -
I'm so sorry to hear of your plight when you have worked so hard to change aspects of your life. I think that you do have a right to know what the OH department have written about your health.
You could apply for for another job and then give your employers a month's notice, as you would if you were working for the organisation. They might be funny about references.
What are the full time officiers and the legal department of the Union doing about your case?
It might be a bit tricky seeing your local councillor. What about seeing your MP?
Is it time to go down the Complaints route of the organisation?
I do think that your HR dept are digging themselves into a big hole.'You can't change the past, you can only change the future' Gary Boulet.

lynzpower wrote:I have an ongoing health need ( a disability under the DDA) that has not been diagnosed as yet. Now, workwise. the occupational health dr recommended redeployment within the org back in May
hi lynz
few points come to mind
1. you are entitled to see your medical report. if your dept refuses, ask the occupational health doctor
2. your local CAB should have a medical doctor who may be able to give specific advise relating to SSP/ICB and your medical condition. after 28 weeks, it should be incapacity benefit (ICB) rather than SSP but depends on your NI contributions
3. you should ask to see the redeployment policy of the company you work for
4. financially, re your rent and deposit, speak to your A+L branch and ask if they can help out as it is a very short term loan; might be worth getting a letter from your solicitor to show that you are about to sell your property

regarding the loan, if the flat sale does not come off you won't need it so will be able to pay it back ASAPTH0

Hi Lynzpower,
May I say that I always look out for your posts and think that you are a very nice person?
It is awful how your employer has treated you. How do they think that keeping you sitting on the fence without pay is to your benefit? You should at least be claiming Incapacity Benefit now as this kicks in when SSP stops after 6 months.
If you leave your job you should be entitled to Contribution Based JSA for 6 months regardless of your family income.
Your CAB can give you detailed advice may have an employment specialist who could take on your case.
Don't lose heart Lynz.
Just look above - You've got us all bristling now!

i have been looking for other work, dont get me wrong. Ive applied for anything I can with my employer, but also plenty of other stuff besides, and had the usual no response. Im trying not to take this personally, as lets face it everyone gets a lot of silence back from agencies adn the like when applying. I endeavour to apply for at least 5 jobs a day, I usually apply for more, using gumtree, reed, other agencies etc.
Thanks barnaby
I know I need to get that sicknote sorted- calling GP now
