Seat Selection

I booked our flights to LA on Tuesday and I was trying to choose our seats. I was just wondering if once you choose them are you allowed to change your mind, or once you pick is that it? I've never flown where I've been allowed to choose before so sorry if this seems like a stupid question.
Also, we're flying with Lufthansa, but it's operated by United and when I go to the seat selection the seats come up in a strange way. Does anyone know if this is supposed to be a 2,5,2 or 3,3,3? There's only 2 of us so obviously I would prefer it if we could sit together by ourselves, but I'm scared of choosing the wrong one and getting stuck in the middle as I want an aisle seat. The plane is Boeing 777-200

I'm not 100% sure, but United definitely used to have 2-5-2 seating, so would guess this is the case here. Have you checked seatguru?
Edit: I have your answer - they are in the process of changing these over to 3-3-3. When do you fly?Gone ... or have I?0 -
what date - route are you using?
normally, once you chose seats you can change them online with most airlines, however also bear in mind that the seats you select are not gauranteed - the airline always reserves the right to change your seats for any reason, and does not form part of the T&C's.

We went with United in a 777 last year and it was 2-5-2, do try and get an aisle seat if possible0

We fly out on the 16th November, and it's from LHR to LAX. I looked at Seatguru as well and it showed me that it was 2,5,2 but I did read they were in the process of changing them but that only 7% or something had been changed so I was wondering if ours had yet.
You can see from the picture these were the seats we were given and I had chosen an aisle seat when I was booking with expedia so then if its 2,5,2 I would be at the end of a 5, and my boyfriend at a 2, so that would be quite annoying. I tried going on the United website and looking at their seat selection since we're operated by them but the diagram comes up in a worse way than this one.0 -
Traincrashing,
if you are on the UA935, the aircraft seating plan is showing as 3 - 3 - 3 (B777) on that date / route.
however just remember, as always, pre-selecting seats will not gaurantee you will get them seats, as the airline always has the right to change your seating.

I'm on the Lufthansa 9342, when I look it up on Seatguru it brings up the Boeing 777-200 WW2 and this shows the 2-5-2. Does that mean this is the plane we will be on, or is seatguru just guessing this?
However, the reason I am questioning that this is the plane we are travelling on is that on seatuguru it shows this plane and there are 43 rows of seats, but when I go to my seat selection there are more than that, just like the new configuration of the 777.0 -
Traincrashing, the LH9342 is the same flight as the UA935, it's just that LH use a different code share flight number. some airlines use the same flight number, others use a variation, others use totally different (as in this case), however its the flight that departs LHR 10:05 and arraives LAX 13:14. United website showing as B777 (no specific variation), and seat plans showing 3-3-3.
Hope this helps.

Thank you
Just wondering if you know anything about United Economy Plus? My boyfriend and I were thinking about upgrading to it for the extra legroom. I booked through expedia and when I went to the United website for the seat selection it doesn't offer it on the page. When looking about for flights before I went to the united website and it offered it for our flight before even confirming the flight. Would this be because I didn't book through United itself?0 -
Trainingcrash,
unfortunately, no personal experience of United Economy Plus and, as we are predominantly in the north of the UK, and united only fly from the south, not an airline we tend to book. However as you booked it through Expedia, you would need to contact them to see if A) is is possible to upgrade tickets already booked & presumebly paid for, and therefore issued andif it was possible, how much it would be. Through the airline itself, it offers it for $109.00 per person, per journey. However, apaer from the very first row of Economy Plus, the seating still shows 3-3-3. Speak with expedia about it however if they are charging a lot, it might be worth while asking at check-in, as they might be more in a position to bargain at last minute. however if you do this, still pre-book your normal seats, just in case.
