Dad will be pleased, provided he gets into support group (he definitely should as his problems are degenerative, that said we all know the issues, but still) he'll be at current rates about £6 a week better off, get cold weather payments and be eligible to apply for crisis loans if ever needed. Whereas now the benefits he gets aren't counted as means tested so he doesn't get the above.
Will long term claimants be early on do you think?0 -

If he's on contributions based IB he will be transfered onto contributions based ESA and not the means tested income based ESA so no cold weather payments etc.0 -
Aslo read in the paper today that they are doing away with crisis loans don't know if it's wrong

it should happen as and when his IB is due for review, unless they speed things up(which seems unlikely)0 -
Going from IB to ESA we will all be put into the Contributions based ESA for the first year. Then transferred to Income Based if you qualify, thus opening up the other benefits you mentioned. That is the most up to date info currently.
I will be so pleased if I get into the Work Group since that is 100 times better than being chucked off! I think too many people in general are hoping for the Support Group which I feel is unrealistic.
I panicked today when an envelope came from them, but it was just the latest info leaflets and notice of the annual rise!0 -

These may be it not read them properly yet my head feels like porridge with the move and everything else that is going on.

link2[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
