Do jobcentres have targets for sanctioning claims? Seems more and more people are falling foul of these.

Surely you can only be sanctioned if you don't stick to your side of the bargain.
They are probably requesting evidence of claimants jobseeking more than ever though.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
I don't know about targets but there is a lot more emphasis on increasing the hassle factor, especially for the long term unemployedThe World come on.....0

Thanks DMG. There's a difference between correction and corruption.
I my opinion, sanctions are being used against innocent people. Targets are in place and pressure being brought on JC staff to achieve these targets.0 -
I think some get sanctioned a little harsh in the sense of them not applying for the job via the agreed route. But still within the rules.
Alot of the ones i see are bang on the money. Failed to attend, failed to sign, always late. Bang there goes your money
I see many not actively seeking work. Bye bye money
For many sanctioned people, there's no excuse. They dont work and yet they cannot find time to look for work.
My sister got an end date of her employment unexpectedly from the employer (the council)
Her employer wouldnt allow her time off for interviews.
Wouldnt let her use the systems at work to jobsearch.
She counted the jobs she applied for in the last 2 weeks..... over 35 applications (either online or on a form). Another 20+ CV's sent out.
All this around a full time job.
(I dont know how she squeezed in the interviews she had)
Anyhow, in the area we live there is limited work as there is no real travel to work area, just local.
She has secured a job in that 2 weeks.
I said to her that these sanctioned customers (who have been fairly sanctioned) should look at how it should be done.
SHe agreed turning up once per fortnight is no hard graft. If you cant manage this then dont sign on.
What employer would accept the excuses some of theses customers put on?You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -

It is not job centre staff that apply the sanctions though.
A decison maker is not constrained by any rules or targets in place for job centre staff, they are answerable only to the law.

I haven't been sanctioned. I am employed.
Jobcentres still have targets for referring possible sanctions.
There seems to be a lot of people (too many for it to be a coincidence) not receiving letters from 'providers' and then being sanctioned for not turning up.
I just think the unemployed are being bullied because they just don't have a voice.
To the guy who's sister got a job within 2 weeks, brilliant, really pleased for her. Holding her up as an example to others would also be good IF there were enough jobs for everybody in your area. She was one of the lucky ones and I don't mean she didn't work hard to get a job, I mean her efforts have paid off where other peoples haven't.0 -
the sanction wouldnt happen if the jcp staff member didnt initiate it in the first place. you are being naive if you think all decision makers make a fair decision all of the time.It is not job centre staff that apply the sanctions though.
