Child cant get a bank account?? Help

If I were you, I'd be getting onto whoever did the deed poll and getting them to pay out for a new one. Regardless of whether they say it is valid or not, it is still incorrect and not what you paid for in the first place. This could cause your son much bother in the future, especially if the passport office or DVLA notice the error if/when he applies.0

As Glider says, you need to get on to whoever did your deed poll. Its not so important for me, but when my name was changed, a hypen was left out, so legally I cannot be the name my mum gave me at birth. Its not a huge issue for me, but thats the legal position. In actual fact I just put both my first names in the first name box on forms, and that does the trick - when I sign my name I put the hypen back. However when I once accidently put the hypen in on a bank form I was refused tooGetting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Well sign another Deed Poll to put the hyphen back in, then. Problem solved.0 -
This is very simple really - the solicitors made a mistake, so the service paid for hasn't been delivered. They therefore draw up a new deed pole. Takes 20 mins.

Thing is, how long has it been done? She has known of this mistake a long time and 'accepted' it, will they do it FOC? I don't know.0

I would take this up with the deed poll company.
I know you can do one yourself, all it is is a contract stating a change of name, especially if you've already got one you can look at the wording on it. Although most people tend to get one done from a paid source, looks more official and less hassle than doing it yourself. If the original company won't change it free of charge, you can change it over the internet.

I would get this deed poll sorted before he turns 16 and has issues with more banks/jobs/driving licences.0 -

I had this once my middle name has a hyphen or so I thought I have always put it in as my mum said yes middle name is Emma-Jane. However I was looking at my birth certificate when I opens an account many moons ago and that says my middle names are Emma Jane no hyphen .Some companies accept it with the hyphen in including the dwp but the bank wouldnt.I still put it in as always have .Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -

It's probably been too long now but when I got my deed-pole drawn up it only cost £30 so not exactly going to melt the credit card.
And in regards to the earlier comments about "it being a change of surname only" - from a legal perspective - it isn't.
Sure, the bank can see how the name was spelled on the birth certificate but the document legally changed the spelling of the name plain and simple.
Co-Op can't be held responsible for holding the letter of the law when other organisations may not have.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I would go elsewhere and use passport. The co-op are completely useless when it comes to red tape, they messed us about for months with admin procedures when applying for a mortgage. We went elsewhere and have never looked back.0

Problem is the passport is out of date and the name wrong. In order to renew passport, he needs iD stating correctly spelt name. Any bank would deal with it in the same way.0
