Before I go into this, I just want to mention a couple of things. I am not the creator of this Facebook page, nor am I an admin for the page. I strongly support the reasons and views behind the page and I am sure there are plenty of others who would also. I appreciate there are unscrupulous sellers out there but the vast majority are honest people just trying to make an honest living. Please have a look and take a moment to join up - it will take 2 minutes and doesn't cost anything. I'm sure plenty of people will think 'whats the point' but I'm sure many thought the same about the 'Rage Against The Machine' Facebook campaign and look what that achieved!

Enough rambling.. on with the point of this post...

Hello Sellers,

We've all read countless Ebay horror stories about dodgy buyers, unwarranted negative feedback, DSR problems and the like. There is thread after thread on various forums about the bad experiences that sellers have had, with an overriding concern that in most cases Ebay aren't prepared to listen.

Well now is your chance to do something about it! We've launched a Facebook campaign to demand a higher level of Seller Protection from Ebay, and the more of you that get involved, the more chance there is that they might actually listen!

So have a look, "Like" it if you agree, suggest it to your friends, and contribute

Thanks for reading

I think the OP maybe referring to the following although unclear why they would get the link wrong:

    http://www.facebook.com/onlinesellerprotection

Seems to contains a few demands for changes to ebay to protect sellers interests - no idea who they are myself or if this is the same group referred to by the OP.

Ebay changed as buyers weren't happy. So if they change to make sellers happy, and all the buyers leave, how does it work then?
At the end of the day, who's the most important.
    People selling, or people buying.
Before you say both, as a buyer, how many sellers do I need?

I do not feel that ebay is in any way more difficult to sell on than any other online venue. If I sell I have to abide by the DSRs, they don't just apply to ebay , and likewise I have to take payment, and that leaves me open to issues with chargebacks.

I really cannot see how a seller can be protected without putting buyers off, and without buyers i have no business at all.

That one works now I can see what it is.:T
I think it is as some of the link is the same, think the dashes are incorrect on original one.
So then OP what do we get out of it as i can't see ebay submitting to these thoughts.

    Ditto the above posts.

I do think there could be improvements, such as the requirement to contact a seller before leaving neg/neutral or low stars. But I think the rules are clear. Abide by them or be ignorant/scammed.

Apologies, I posted an incorrect link - yes it is the same group. The idea was to get people to the landing page rather than the wall initially - I have amended my initial post with a corrected link.

There are too many ways that dis-honest buyers can affect honest sellers on ebay. All that is being sought is a fair way to even the balance. There has to be a middle ground that is fair for both sides. At the moment it is tilted too far in the buyers favour, which in the most part is not a problem, but there are a growing number of dis-honest buyers taking advantage of the current situation.

No harm in trying! If the group went viral and gained thousands or millions of users then there is a small chance eBay will sit up and listen. OK its a lot to hope for but if you are a seller what have you got to lose by joining the page?

Exactly - and that is point 3 of the groups proposals.

Its easy enough to be the best seller in the world, to follow the rules to the letter without ignorance and still be taken for a ride by a buyer using those same rules to their advantage.

Why shouldn't the seller have the right to determine who they sell to?

A typical example, we recently had a buyer from overseas who questioned where the item was 3 days after payment. The hint was that if we didn't refund asap they would leave negative. Their feedback left for others was 40% negative for item not received, so we just paid up. No doubt they now have a nice free item.

I contacted Ebay with all the information about it, and they said they would look into it. Move forward a couple of weeks, nothing has been done.

How can we protect ourselves from buyers like that? If I could have filtered on negatives left I wouldn't be out of pocket (and neither would many other sellers).

Seems to me that what we are trying to achieve is not going to affect any buyers except for the fraudsters, unless I'm missing something.

But if you filter on negatives left, you penalise decent buyers who run into poor sellers, and the shady buyers will just register a new account.
