Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I was trying to be money saving and save the cost of a long distance phone call

Presumably you will be changing to another bank. Martin's guide mentions Alliance & Leicester as paying a much better rate and looking at their website they will deal with everything regarding the transfer. I expect some other banks would too. With A&L you can apply online. There is always light within the dark0

No, not changing, just keeping my HSBC account open and if anyone wants to pay any money to DH they'll have to do it through that.
Thanks though

If you want to cancel your account then just call them, any time day or night, and you'll get through pretty much straight away. They're good like that!0

JasonW wrote:I hope people do close their accounts since even the grande fromage said they were concentrating on their "better customers". This is a terrible insult to customers who have small balances and so what if they dont use it as their main account, who says you need to!? I hope they live to regret this, and only wish I had a FD account so I could close it with as much respect as they are showing for their customer. A customer is still a customer and pays their fat (!!!!) cat salaries.
More like their shareholders' dividends I think you'll find!
When did he say that "they were concentrating on their "better customers"".0 -
I'm sure the line was that they wanted to 'deepen their relationship with their customers by encouraging them to take out other products with them'0
