Nationwide duplicate statements

I have chosen not to receive bank statements from the Nationwide Building society. This was promoted by Nationwide as something that helped the society. If they and similar institutions are going to turn this around and demand money for a service that is unacceptable to other institutions then it deserves scrutiny from all those concerned.

Yes, banks should at least have clearer rationale to put to customers as to why they might forgo paper statements (and help save the whale!) which they get for free at present. If it is deemed acceptable to charge for paper statements it should only be 'second' statements received which are charged for in this way. With a policy like that - clear, fair, rational - they might find that they could get many more customers going that way than at present - knowing on the rare occasions when 'paper is king' they can still ask for paper copies.Joe_Bloggs wrote: »I have chosen not to receive bank statements from the Nationwide Building society. Of course once it gets to 80 or 90 percent paperless - the 'unit' (there always is one) responsible will find itself being slimmed down and told to 'raise charges' simply in order to show 'a profit' (think of BT).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
