The cost of motoring....

It's expensive but I don't think I could be without a car.
I've recently switched to a brand new smaller car though, the savings on tax, fuel and insurance are paying for the depreciation (finance) with cash left over at the end of the month.0 -
What kind of tyres are you putting on that cost £250 for a corsa? Shouldn't be more than £40-50 a corner. Less if you get secondhand ones. Also you know you can get punctures repaired (not always - if they're in certain key places though) for about £10 a go, instead of replacing the tyre?0

As for tyres, around here I have to park half on the kerb and half on the road which doesn't help, plus you tend to pick up nails and screws in the gutters... bear in mind I park up 10 -15 times a day when visiting patients. Its a vauxhall corse.. nothing special and I do a fair few miles.
Thanks Lum, I really must claim that back.
What are they actually doing for £625 ?
A major service on a Corsa shouldn't be any more than £250. Air con service £50.0 -

£250? Really? wheres that then? I don't actually know what they are doing apart from the usual service things, brake pads, moving the front tyres to the back and tracking. They give you the itemised bill at the end.
As for tyres, the last one was £125 from ATS, Avon I think. I don't think I needed a tyre that cost that amount!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
So they're replacing brake pads? That adds a bit onto the price but it still seems expensive.0

I forgot they are also changing a part in the air con... a dryer or filter (I can't remember!).. costs £65. And thats all. Still seems like a lot tho. Hope I'm not being ripped off. I've just checked my last yrs invoice from the same garage and it was only £350 for the full service.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190

Daylight robbery,
Full service for a Corsa shouldn't be more than £170-200 and brakes pads maybe £50
What are they doing to the aircon? Charging with new gas is around £30 here (Bristol). Pollen filter is less than a £10 for a Corsa.
Tyres not more than £40 a pop for a decent brand.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
